Proposed Legislation to Restrict Voting
Based on these false claims, he is urging Congress to pass the SAVE Act (Safeguard American Voter Eligibility) which would:
- Require voters to present citizenship documents (passport or original birth certificate) in person when registering or updating their registration;
- Restrict mail-in voting, allowing it only in specific circumstances such as illness, disability, military service, or travel;
- Require states to share voter registration data with federal agencies;
- Disenfranchise large numbers of native tribal members who only have a tribal ID.
